The 'Glass Design Project' is a long-running personal project consisting of a range of icon, app, and OS designs that I have been working on since 2013. As such, it provides a reflection of my evolving design style and skillset over time. This portfolio entry covers my most recent designs, which have a renewed focus on visual consistency and practical functionality. For more information on the full history of these designs, you can view my case study at the link below:

Each app icon follows a consistent monochromatic design comprised of simple shapes that scale well, for use in all potential scenarios. To help differentiate each app within the design scheme, I assigned every app its own unique accent colour – which features in its icon and throughout the app.
I designed all the apps to follow a consistent layout of core elements, with variations either adding or removing boxes from the bento box layout. This maintains consistency while allowing each app to adapt to its own unique needs. Additionally, all apps follow the same light and dark theme colour schemes with their own unique accent colours – helping to distinguish them at a glance.
When designing the apps, I ensured that all the different elements could appropriately adjust to any potential window configuration – from full-screen down to mobile. At each stage, elements maintain the same – or similar – layout positions, which allows the user to quickly find each element no matter the app size.
For the OS, my main priority was to create a simple design that could adapt to different form factors without sacrificing major functionality. As such, the home screen is filled with apps and widgets – like a mobile OS – while the navbar at the bottom of the screen collapses into three swipe controls on mobile – panes screen, home screen, and quick access screen. Like the app designs, the OS features both a light and dark theme option, to suit user preferences.
